there's two things i want really badly right now, one of them being for summer to let loose on my pathetic country, even if it's only for a few weeks?

it's my birthday soon, in nine days precisely. the age at which you can feel your youth fall through your fingers at such an alarming rate, it makes you panic. you begin to realise that there's about three more years to carry on acting like a teenager before it's time to grow up, get a real job and a real life. you can tell i'm really quite anticipating my 21st, right?

i'm probably being over dramatic. sure, there's lots of things to enjoy when you turn 21...err, maybe not. so in celebration of my not so liberating 21st birthday, i decided to have a party. now, if you know my parents, which is improbable, you will understand that they are relatively house proud and the thought of have their house overrun with more of my type is deeply unsettling for them. but anyway, i swung them round.

which now leaves me with the dilemma, where on earth can i find a party dress that doesn't involve excess amounts of taffeta, isn't covered in sequins, bows or lace and suits my generous curves? yeah, i know, nowhere. unless i make it myself, but with a week or so to go, the task is too onerous for me to take on on my own. after trailing what seems like every shop from sauchiehall st to argyle st, every vintage shop this wondrous city has and every online store i know of, i have found only two dresses i would even consider buying.

trusty old Topshop. to be honest, both of the dresses are from Topshop, which i'm kinda disappointed about. out of all the places i've hunted, i ended back at where i started. plus, i usually love everything in Topshop but i only found two dresses. s'that about?! anyway, this first one is a little floaty tea dress that i am in LOVE with. I am dying to pair it with a brown braided belt...but shoes? exactly. that's the only thing stopping me from buying it right now.

this one's a Topshop Boutique dress that i adoreeee. i love the strings and the grommet detailing at the back, love love LOVE. but it is just another black dress. i have SO much black in my wardrobe, so again, that's another thing that's stopping me from ordering this at once. i've got this feeling i'm going to find something better, so i might hold off for now, as hard as it is to resist...
